There is
a subtle difference between the English 't' and the Spanish 't'.
When making the 't' sound in English, the tongue touches the gum ridge
behind the upper front teeth. Whereas the Spanish 't' is produced such
that the tongue actually touches the back of the front
teeth. Like this you also leave away the puff of air which comes after the English 't'.
