The 'b' (long) and 'v' (short) are pronounced exactly
the same. Both of these have two separate sounds: hard and soft.
At the
beginning of a word and after 'm' or 'n', the hard Spanish 'b/v' would
be like the 'b' in the word 'bay', but the lips are held
tense.
The
soft 'b/v' is pronounced like an English 'b'
but the lips are not allowed to touch! This sound does
not exist in English...
